Conversations with Farmers

     A new type of farming is evolving in Maine and throughout the country.  It's called sustainable agriculture and it promises a viable choice for the family farm.  Conventional models of agriculture feature a commodity system where large industrial farms produce a single crop, requiring substantial purchases of equipment and chemical inputs.  Sustainable farmers limit chemical purchases, engage in compatible and diverse enterprises and market their products locally.
