About Us

Eighteen years ago Alyson was introduced to her first pair of calves.  Coming from an oxen-rich family and neighborhood the love of oxen was in her blood.

Oxen are and always have been a large part of her life. She grew up on Meaderboro Road in Farmington, NH on her family’s BerryBrook Farm. Sometimes having up to five pair of steers on the family farm at a time, training and caring for them were part of everyday life.  Through spring, summer and fall the steers were worked everyday to prepare for 4-H and open shows at fairs throughout New England.  When not competing, Alyson often participated in events which included logging, plowing, and hauling ice with oxen.  They were used on the family farm for getting out firewood and hauling Christmas trees for customers during the holiday season.

After high school, Alyson attended the Thompson School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire, earning an Associates Degree in Applied Animal Science.  She continued to train steers throughout her college years, including a team of Milking Shorthorns which were hauled in from Ohio to be trained so they could be the resident oxen team at historical Sauder Village.  During this time, her parents, Tim and Wendy Huppe, opened BerryBrook Ox Supply.

Over the recent years Alyson has helped out with oxen workshops instructed by her father, Tim.  At these workshops there are participants from all over the country with varied levels of oxen experience.  The workshops range from basic training to farming or logging with oxen.

In September of 2006 Alyson married Jake Bronnenberg of Strafford, NH.  Jake is a partner in his family’s business, Bronnenberg Logging & Trucking, LLC, and is currently working towards earning his forester’s license.  They both enjoy the outdoors and continuing the tradition of agriculture and forestry.  Jake is an instructor at the ox logging workshops teaching his logging skills and sharing his forestry knowledge with students.  The two had a baby boy born in November of 2007.  Alyson decided to stay home with him and open New England Supply.

Today, the two stores compliment each other, as BerryBrook Ox Supply makes and sells new ox yokes and ox equipment, and New England Ox Supply focuses on used yokes, and the supplies needed to work a pair of oxen.

Allow 10-14 days for shipping of in-stock items.
